Gophers
Gophers, also known as pocket gophers, are small, burrowing rodents native to North and Central America. They are named for their fur-lined cheek pouches, or "pockets," which they use to carry food and nesting materials. Gophers typically have brown or gray fur that blends in with the soil, and they have strong claws and teeth adapted for digging.
Gopher tunnels can also undermine the structural integrity of the soil, leading to issues such as soil erosion and damage to landscaping or irrigation systems. Their burrowing activity can create unsightly mounds and pose a tripping hazard. While they rarely come into direct contact with humans, their presence can lead to extensive property damage, making them a common target for pest control efforts.
