Bed bugs are small, reddish-brown insects that feed on the blood of humans and animals. They are flat, oval-shaped, and about the size of an apple seed when fully grown. Bed bugs are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night when they come out to feed. They are often found in and around beds, including in mattress seams, box springs, bed frames, and headboards, but can also hide in cracks and crevices in walls, furniture, and other household items.

Bed bugs do not transmit diseases, but their bites can cause itchy welts and allergic reactions in some individuals. An infestation can lead to significant discomfort, stress, and anxiety due to their elusive nature and rapid reproduction. Bed bugs are excellent hitchhikers and can spread easily through luggage, clothing, and used furniture, making them a widespread problem.
