Earwigs
Earwigs are small, elongated insects easily recognized by the pair of forceps-like pincers, or cerci, at the end of their abdomen. They are typically dark brown to reddish-brown and have slender bodies ranging from 5 to 25 millimeters in length. Earwigs have two pairs of wings, although they rarely fly and are more commonly seen crawling quickly.
Despite their intimidating appearance, earwigs do not pose a significant threat and are not known to transmit diseases. Their pincers are primarily used for defense and for capturing prey. If disturbed, earwigs may use their pincers to deliver a mild pinch, but they do not bite or sting. Earwigs can become a nuisance when they enter homes searching for food, water, or shelter, especially in humid or wet weather conditions.
